State Farm funds $20,000 Good Neighbor Resilient Oklahoma Partnership
In this time of pandemic, it is always great to to have a Good Neighbor. We at the Disaster Resilience Network are proud to announce that we have received $20,000 from State Farm to leverage partnerships with State Farm agents on projects across the state of Oklahoma. The goal of the Good Neighbor Resilient Oklahoma Partnership will be for the Disaster Resilience Network to collaborate with participating members of State Farm's roughly 315-member agency work force across the state of Oklahoma through educational outreach by our three Councils: 1. The Business Council, focused on business and nonprofit continuity planning; 2. The Cross-Cultural Council, focused emergency planning for immigrant communities as well as the deaf and hard of hearing community; and 3. The Housing Council, which is focused on disaster resilient construction, including the IBHS FORTIFIED Home High Wind and Hail program, as well as on sustainability. The Covid-19 outbreak has changed a number of our in-person outreach activities, but as we schedule events in the coming year, we look forward to our work with our Good Neighbors at State Farm!
